Chugai Pharma Taiwan continues to engage in social welfare by organizing cycling and charitable donation events. Besides emphasizing the value of physical and mental wellbeing through work-life balance, the Company also vigorously fulfills its corporate social responsibilities, and this year is no exception. Chugai Pharma Taiwan hosted 3 days 2 nights Charity Cycling Campaign to Yilan during November 19-21, 2021, cycling from Fulong to Cape Santiago, Waiao, Jiaoxi, Suao, and Luodong.

The charitable donation activity was arranged on the second day of the journey, visiting the Activity Center of the Orphan Foundation. However, rain started to fall when the group departed from Jiaoxi in the early morning. Along the way, the group of 40 participants peddled for 30km to the Zhuangwei Dune Visitor Center and the Activity Center of the Orphan Foundation in the rain. Fortunately, the rain did not deter their enthusiasm and determination in forging ahead. Despite the arduous journey, everyone pushed on to reach the final destination at noon.

The foundation cares about underprivileged children with one or both parents who are deceased, in turn losing their family and livelihood. All 14 branch offices throughout Taiwan regularly organize events to look after approximately 300 children in the Yilan region and over 5,000 children nationwide. After the foundation director's introduction and by visiting the sites, the Company's colleagues are able to understand the foundation's background and services. In this visit, Chugai Pharma Taiwan donated plenty of commodities including rice, oil, powdered milk, dishwashing liquid, and laundry detergents to the foundation, where the resources are distributed to children in need.

By combining the corporate family day with such a meaningful charity event, Chugai Pharma Taiwan's colleagues and their families can appreciate the happiness of giving back to society in person. Although the adverse weather has increased the difficulty of the journey, no one gave up, so the Company President Henry Chen offered his words of encouragement to everyone: "The more challenging the journey is, the more memorable and timeless the experience will be." In the future, Chugai Pharma Taiwan aspires to continue caring about society and fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities. It is also hoped that the Company's endeavors will encourage other partners to join in and support the cause.
