<p>The prestigious Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) ceremony, a well-known event in Asia’s sustainability sector, took place on June 28 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Hosted by the NGO Enterprise Asia, the award honored Chugai Pharma Taiwan in the categories of Green Leadership and Social Empowerment. This year, 320 companies and a total of 394 projects participated in the award, and 123 projects won the award. The winning rate is about 31 percent, highlighting Chugai Pharma’s outstanding performance in sustainable development in recent years, which has gained significant international recognition.</p>

Every year on April 17, World Hemophilia Day is celebrated with events held around the globe to raise awareness of hemophilia. In 2024, the World Federation of Hemophilia decided that the theme of the event this year would be “Equitable access for all: recognizing all bleeding disorders”. The goal is to ensure that all people with bleeding disorders have access to care, regardless of their type of bleeding disorder, gender, age, or where they live.

A strong earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale struck near Hualien, in eastern Taiwan, in the early morning of April 3rd. This is the largest earthquake since the 921 earthquake. Numerous homes collapsed across Taiwan, with Hualien being particularly hard-hit. Many people have been affected, with some losing their homes and facing a long road to recovery. We express our deepest sympathy to all those recently affected by the earthquake on the east coast of Taiwan. Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, President and CEO: Dr. Osamu Okuda) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Chugai Pharma Taiwan (President: Mr. Takashi Okamoto), hereby announce our decision to donate the following funds to support relief and reconstruction efforts in the severely affected disaster areas. We sincerely pray for the swift recovery of the disaster-stricken areas. Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. donated matching amount of Chugai Pharma Taiwan to Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan). Chugai Pharma Taiwan donated one day's salary of all employees to Hualien County Government.

Chugai Pharma Taiwan (CPT) initiated an innovative campaign to promote sustainability—the cultivation of millet and the protection of the habitat of the russet sparrow, a protected species, in the villages of the Rukai people in Pingtung. For CPT, the campaign is not only a proactive move to implement its corporate social responsibility, but also a part of its advocacy of environmental protection and responsible consumption.

Chugai Pharma Taiwan (CPT) spares no effort in contributing to social welfare and employee well-being. Each year, they organize a charity cycling event, emphasizing the importance of work-life balance for their employees, and actively fulfilling corporate social responsibility. In 2023, from November 10 to 12, CPT hosted a three-day, two-night charity cycling event starting from Shicheng and Bitojiao, passing through Keelung, Yehliu, and Danshui along the coastline, and concluding at the Hsinchu High-Speed Rail Station, exploring various sightseeing spots along the way.
