Chugai Pharma Taiwan Ltd (台灣中外製藥) on Friday was honored at the prestigious Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA), receiving accolades in the Green Leadership and Social Empowerment categories.

It was the fourth consecutive year the company has received international recognition at AREA, underscoring its long-term commitment and tangible achievements in environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

This year's AREA ceremony was held in Bangkok, Thailand, and organized by the non-governmental organization Enterprise Asia. The awards attracted more than 350 entries from 19 countries across Asia, with only 81 projects ultimately selected — an acceptance rate of just 23 percent. Chugai Pharma Taiwan's repeated success highlights its consistent dedication to excellence in environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives.

Continuing to expand its ESG impact this year, Chugai Pharma Taiwan partnered with Taiwanese sustainable brand Blueseeds to adopt and support contract farming of herb fields. The Chugai team traveled to Taitung to attend the adoption ceremony, engaged in meaningful dialogue with local contract farmers and planted lavender seedlings by hand — a symbolic gesture of the company's promise to protect the environment.

In addition, Chugai Pharma Taiwan integrated an essential oil DIY event into its patient support program, empowering people to create their own essential oils to ease stress, and promote physical and mental well-being. The essential oils, derived from naturally cultivated herbs, were also packaged into gift sets and shared with employees and business partners, promoting a healthy lifestyle and eco-friendly values. The initiative not only supports sustainable agriculture, but also creates diversified employment opportunities for visually impaired perfumers and small-scale local farmers.

Receiving AREA honors for four consecutive years affirms Chugai Pharma Taiwan's unwavering commitment to ESG values. The company reiterated its mission to address unmet medical needs through innovative medicines, improving access to treatment, and enhancing public health and well-being.
