In recent years, Chugai Pharma Taiwan (CPT) shows the concern to the issue of environmental sustainability and initiates "Protect the Marine, Plant the Coral" family day, which not only maintain the balance of marine ecosystem, but also implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, No.14 “Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources.”

Coral reefs will be formed after long-term growth. Coral reefs are not only one of the areas with high biodiversity on the earth, which is helpful for maintaining fishery resources, but also the popular materials for the development of new drugs. Recently, large-scale bleaching of corals occurred due to overfishing, ocean pollution, and ocean temperatures rising. Therefore, protection of corals has become more important.
On Apr. 9th, 2022, CPT headed to “Marine Resource Restoration Center" in Gongliao, New Taipei City for a 1-day Coral Planting Family Day, in cooperation with the Institute of Marine Environment and Ecology of National Taiwan Ocean University, contributing together to marine ecological environment.

The professional team of the Institute of Marine Environment and Ecology not only lead participants to know various of corals and the importance of ecological conservation, but also let participants paint their own coral pedestal and work in groups for coral planting. The organizer prepared each person's name tag and let participants tied to the pedestal together with the small corals. The 60 small corals with their name tags are just like carrying full of blessings from CPT’s colleagues, and they hope the corals could grow up smoothly. Moreover, the organizer team arranged participants to experience touch pool of marine creatures and also toured the coral farming for them.

Through interesting events and experience by themselves, CPT’s colleagues with their family and children had a deeper understanding of tropical rainforest "coral reef ecosystem" and planted corals together to protect the marine ecological environment. CPT is committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility to protect the earth and to awaken the public's attention to the environment and ecological conservation.
