It is Chugai Parma Taiwan's (CPT) ongoing effort to fulfill its corporate social responsibility by continuing to invest in social welfare activities. The “Cycling for Charity” organized by CPT each year won the Company the “AREA: Social Empowerment Award” in July 2022.

The Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA), regarded as the CSR benchmark award in Asia, aims to recognize Asian companies for their CSR practices and implementation of sustainable social development. The award supports sustainable and responsible commercial practices in the following categories: “Green Leadership, Investment in People, Health Promotion, Social Empowerment, Corporate Governance, and Responsible Business Leadership”. Among these, the “social empowerment award” focuses on recognizing companies or individuals who strive for the rights and resources of disadvantaged groups. After undertaking a strict review process, evaluation was conducted based on three criteria: “effectiveness, relevance, and sustainability of public welfare coverage”. The winners for 2022 have been revealed and an Asia-wide online award ceremony is to take place on July 21.

Entering the competition for the first time, CPT has won the “social empowerment award” beating over 260 competitors from 19 countries in Asia. This award has enabled more people to appreciate the efforts of CPT in social welfare development. CPT initiates social welfare activities with innovative ideas and was the first in the industry to hold the annual “Cycling for Charity” event. In addition to looking after the physical and mental health of its employees, CPT encourages them to keep a good habit of exercise while also bringing together their centripetal force. As well as this, CPT made donations to various charities, visited and cared for disadvantaged groups during the 3-day trip, and at the same time provided daily necessities to social welfare organizations. With the “Cycling for Charity” attracting much attention and curiosity, CPT advocates the concept of “giving back to society and caring for the disadvantaged”, further encouraging others to put more effort into social welfare activities. In the fierce competition, CPT’s “Cycling for Charity” was highly recognized by the judges and was awarded the AREA Social Empowerment Award.

In the future, CPT will continue to extend its influence on global environmental, social, and governance and become a top innovator, achieving the goal of Chugai group, Top I 2030, “become a role model for ESG”, and move towards the goal of sustainable social development.
